Elstree Screen Heritage

Elstree Screen Heritage was founded in 2006 by local residents who believe our unique film and television heritage makes Elstree & Borehamwood a very special place to live.

Our aims are to record, preserve and share that heritage.

To do that we screen classic Elstree films and television productions, write books, run events and much, much more.

Under the leadership of our Chairman Paul Welsh, we carry out an ambitious programme of activities, sometimes on our own and sometimes in association with other groups who share our aims.

For example, over the past eight years we have been part of the multi-agency group called “First Impressions”. This group focuses on using film and TV images in public spaces to create a more welcoming first impression of Elstree & Borehamwood.

Another long-standing partnership is with the staff and students of the Film and TV Unit of the University of Hertfordshire’s Creative Media School. So far we’ve filmed interviews with over 65 veterans of the local film and TV studios.

We love the stories told by the stars and directors, but we also want to record the stories you don’t normally get to hear. That’s why our interviews range from director Steven Spielberg to actors and crew members — everyone’s role and everyone’s story is unique and important. For more details follow this link.
